The Conference

Since its first edition in Laredo (Cantabria) in July 2000, the Iberian Meeting on Computational Electromagnetics (EIEC) — also known by its Spanish/Portuguese name Encuentro/Encontro Ibérico de Electromagnetismo Computacional — has been successfully held in many locations across Spain and Portugal: Aracena (Huelva, 2001), Sedano (Burgos, 2003), Seia (Guarda, 2005), Aiguablava (Girona, 2007), Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz, 2008), Monfragüe (Cáceres, 2010), Sesimbra (Setúbal, 2011), Denia (Alicante, 2013), Baeza (Jaén, 2015), Las Caldas (Asturias, 2016), Coimbra (2018), Potes (2019), Núria (Girona, 2022), Cádiz (2023) and Aveiro (Portugal, 2025).

The XVII edition, to be held 27–30 October 2026, will take place in Elgorriaga (Navarra, Spain) and will be organized by the Public University of Navarra (UPNA).

EIEC meetings provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge between researchers working on computational electromagnetics and its applications in the various branches of Physics and Electrical Engineering. Over the years, the meeting has fostered a close and highly interactive environment, strengthening connections within the community and encouraging the development of collaborations.

Unlike large conferences, EIEC has traditionally been conceived as a scientific meeting centered on discussion and exchange of ideas. Rather than a sequence of short and independent presentations, the format encourages participants to present the main research directions and ongoing work of their groups, providing the opportunity to discuss approaches, challenges and perspectives with colleagues.

In this spirit, the meeting favors broader presentations and a single-session format, allowing all participants to attend every talk and maximizing interaction and scientific discussion. The aim is to create an environment where ideas can be explored openly, recent progress can be shared, and meaningful feedback can emerge from the community.

Traditionally, EIEC is also organized in small towns or picturesque locations, encouraging participants to stay together and interact beyond the formal sessions. This setting helps to create the informal atmosphere that has always characterized the meeting and that naturally promotes scientific exchange.

Following this tradition, EIEC 2026 will take place in Elgorriaga, in the Malerreka valley of northern Navarra, a peaceful setting in the western Pyrenees that provides an ideal atmosphere for discussion, collaboration and new ideas.
